About the author

Dylan Hattem has been to countless weddings. From backyards to castles in London, from intimate gatherings with just family to rooms filled with over 500 people that left him questioning my own popularity. And in his years as an attentive wedding guest, he has seen wedding toasts go a few ways: a heartfelt tribute, a completely forgettable few minutes, or a total disaster.

Somewhere along the way, he became the person people call when they have to give a speech.

What started with helping a close friend turned into helping family members, then friends of friends, and eventually complete strangers — all facing the same quiet panic of having to stand up and say something meaningful without knowing how. Over time, he became known (somewhat unintentionally) as the go-to for wedding speeches.

That experience — seeing the same struggles over and over again — is what led him to write The Wedding Speech Crisis.
